Important Questions to Ask Your Wedding Venue

Now that you have that ring on your finger, it's time to start shopping for wedding venues for your wedding day! When you begin to look around, keep this list of questions handy so you can ensure you're choosing the venue that is perfect for the two of you.

Questions to Ask Before You Tour a Venue

  • Is my date available?

  • How many quests can you accommodate?

  • What are your pricing packages and what do they include?

  • How long do I have access to the space?

  • Do I have access to all parts of the space - bridal suite, bathrooms, etc?

Payment

  • What is the total cost to book with you?

  • What percentage do you require for a deposit?

  • Do you take credit card, cash, check, Venmo?

  • If I have a ceremony and reception, do you flip the space? Is there an additional cost for this?

Set-Up

  • How is the room typically set-up, can I adjust it to my liking?

  • Can I see pictures of past weddings?

  • If I have a ceremony and reception, do you flip the space? Is there an additional cost for this?

Decorating

  • When can I start decorating the space?

  • Are open flame candles allowed?

  • Are there any decorating restrictions?

  • How many people can sit at each table?

Weather Back-Up Plan

  • Can I move my ceremony inside if the weather does not cooperate?

  • Do you have outdoor tents to protect us from weather? If so, when do we need to tell you we'd like to take advantage of these?

Food

  • Do you have any food/catering requirements?

  • Do you offer in-house catering?

  • Do you have a preferred caterer list?

  • Can food be served buffet style, seated meal, etc?

Cake

  • Is there a cake table?

  • Do you have a cake cutting knife or do we bring our own?

  • Is there an additional charge for you to cut the cake?

Alcohol

  • What are your alcohol guidelines?

  • Does the venue have alcohol packages?

  • Do you have a list of preferred companies that can serve alcohol?

Insurance

Cancellations

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Follow-up Questions

  • How and when can I follow-up with additional questions? Email? Text? Additional Tour?
