Questions You May Not Have Thought of to Ask Your Wedding Venue & Why They're Important

On the search for your perfect wedding venue? Be sure to ask some of these questions before you sign your contract!

How many people does the ceremony/reception space accommodate?

This is a very important question you'll want to ask. Depending on the number the space holds, will depend on how many guests you can invite.

Are there hotels nearby?

Do you have lots of out of town family? Be sure there is a hotel nearby to make it easier on your guests.

Is there public transportation nearby?

You can't always take Uber or a taxi in all places, sometimes they may not come to that area. If your guests are going to be consuming alcohol, make sure they know if there are transportation options available for them.

What kind of services do you offer?

Day of coordinator, clean-up crew, busting tables, serving food, etc are all things your wedding venue may or may not have to offer. These are all things that are helpful to know when you go to hire vendors for other things.

What's your electricity like?

Is there enough voltage for a live band? What about dimmers on the overhead lights to set the mood when dancing?

How many hours do we get the space?

Ask how long you get the rental space and if there are charges for overtime.

Are there any additional fees we should know about?

Sometimes there are a couple added costs aside from the rental fee they may not tell you about right away. You'll want to know this so you can leave room for it in your budget.

Can we hire outside vendors?

Depending on thee venue, sometimes they allow you to bring in any vendors you want, they may have a list for you to choose from, or they require you to only use certain vendors. If you have your heart set on certain vendors already, you'll want to take this into consideration.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Most of the time, venues will not allow this. But you will want to know so you know how much you should expect to spend on alcohol.

Are we able to rearrange?

The tables, chairs and bar are a few things the venue may already have set up for you. Make sure you're able to place these things where you please.

Don't ever feel like you're asking too many questions! This is your big day and you want to make sure you know exactly what you are getting in your venue.
