Feeling overwhelmed during the planning of your wedding can be very normal. When it comes to controlling your stress, there are a few ways you can totally control it!
Take Breaks
Of course it is important to talk through all the wedding details with your partner. That doesn't mean it is all the two of you talk about. Be intentional when discussing all the wedding planning so it doesn't take over. Be sure to talk about how each other's days were and other things in life that have nothing to do with the wedding. You can even plan to only talk about the wedding on certain days of the week!
Your Relationship
It's so easy to get wrapped up in all of the wedding planning that you may forget about how important your relationship is with your partner. You have to put your relationship first at all times. You can go to premarital classes or online counseling before the big day to help the two of you get ready and really strengthen your relationship.
Ask For Help
We know it's hard, but it is perfectly okay to ask for help. If your family or friends offer a helping hand, let them. Be specific on what you need help with and then thank them for their generous help.
Set Realistic Expectations
Most people have a general idea of what they want their wedding to be like, but you need to make sure you are being realistic. Determine what is most important to you while taking into account things like your finances, the location of your wedding, and the time of the year you would like to get married.
From there, determine what is and isn't possible. Focus on everything you can control and don't focus on things you can't control, like the weather.
Breathe Deeply and Try Yoga
A great immediate stress reliever is to focus on your breathing. Make an effort to take long, deep breaths. Whenever you feel like your anxiety is going to take over, stop and take a deep breath...and make time for a yoga class.
